This is an old revision of the document!

Maya®, Multipass-Rendering

The AOVs for rendering in Maya should allow a non-destructive denoising to be applied. Therefore “Output Denoising AOVs” needs th be checked. Some AOVs are not listed then, which will be available over the scope of AOVs shown in the image below.Maya AOVs and Imager post-effects

Preset-Files

Provided is a zip-file from Maya 2023, which might not work with older and newer versions of Maya. If other preset-files are provided here, it would be great — Rainer M. Engel 2024/01/23 14:10
Maya Render-Presets (made with love and Maya 2023)

imager_presets (folder) shall be copied into the project-folder.
prefs needs to be placed into a user's local folder (i.e. C:\Users\[your-username]\Documents\maya\Presets), it will then be accessible like shown in the image above from the menu.

Usage of presets (things to follow)

  • It definitely makes sense, to only use the “RenderSettings base-v2” once and at the beginning, before one changes settings according to personal or project related demands. This is important to keep in mind, to not lose changes already made by intention.
  • One may add further AOVs, which is/should be no issue.
  • The picked scope named “base” was made to ensure that a selection of the most important outputs is provided in a merged OpenEXR. It is possible to denoise the beauty-pass (RGBA) by Noice (which can be found as part of fiji_win64 rme mdh.7z found on S:\FIJI_ImageJ\), and beyond that the light-group AOVs are denoised each by OIDN and Optix and saved with a suffix to stay non-destructive. It is possible to render in Half-Float to save disc space. Cryptomatte does work in Nuke, if all three AOVs are used, for EXRs being Half or Full Float.

A nuke-preset making use of the configuration above is available following this article for nuke.
